Studio B is a structured, small-group art program rooted in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), designed for children ages 6-14 who learn and experience the world a little differently.

❋ Art with purpose

Using the CANVAS ABA-Art curriculum, each session gives children the space to create, explore, and express themselves through painting, drawing, and mixed media, while working toward individualized goals that are meaningful to them and their families.

Every activity is purposeful. Every session is supportive. Every child leaves with something they made themselves.

❋ A program you can trust

Studio B is a program of BidWell Behavior, designed and clinically supervised by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).

❋ Every session counts
❋ A Supportive Space

Studio B sessions are held at the BidWell Behavior offices. Our space is intentionally small, structured, and sensory considerate so that every child can settle in, feel safe, and do their best creative work.

Express

Studio B creates space for kids to communicate, connect, and show up as themselves. Sessions are designed to foster self-expression, flexible thinking, and meaningful peer interaction. Growth happens naturally when kids are doing something they enjoy.

What does a session actually look like?

Kids arrive and transition into the session space, where materials are already set up and a visual schedule is in place. Each session opens with a brief group warm-up, moves into the main art activity, and closes with a share-out and transition routine. Behavior technicians work alongside each child throughout, supporting their individualized goals while the group creates together.

Explore

Kids discover painting, drawing, and mixed media in a structured, supportive environment. Each session introduces new materials and techniques, building confidence and flexibility along the way.

Evolve

Every child in Studio B works towards individualized goals developed specifically for them by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). Goals are embedded naturally into the art activities so the work feels engaging, not clinical, with progress that is real and measurable.

Individualized goals, embedded in every brushstroke

Progress is tracked every session using data collected by our qualified providers and is reviewed regularly by the supervising BCBA. Families receive updates on how their child is progressing toward their goals throughout the program.

No two kids in Studio B are working on exactly the same thing. Before your child begins, we complete a comprehensive ABA assessment to understand their current skills, strengths, and areas for growth. From there, a BCBA develops an individualized set of goals that are woven into every session.

Goal areas we commonly address include:

  • Joint attention and shared focus

  • Communication - verbal, body language, speaking, non-speaking, and AAC-supported

  • Independence

  • Social connection and peer interaction

  • Flexible thinking and navigating change

  • Problem solving

  • Emotional regulation

  • and more!

Have questions about your coverage?

Although BidWell Behavior administrators will verify benefits and coverage prior to enrollment it is important that you verify this information on your own as well.

Studio B may be covered by your insurance

Insurance and Funding

ABA therapy, including Studio B, may be covered as a benefit under your child’s health insurance plan. Coverage varies by carrier and individual plan, so we verify each family’s benefits individually before confirming enrollment.

Here is how the process works:

  • The interest form will supply us with information about your child and their insurance information.

  • Once we’ve reviewed all of the completed interest forms we will check that we accept your child’s insurance and verify their coverage, benefit limits, and any existing authorization history directly with your carrier. If your child’s insurance does not cover ABA services private pay options are available.

  • Most insurance plans require prior authorization requests be submitted by providers ahead of completing an assessment and treatment plan. We will handle the paperwork on your behalf and communicate directly with your insurance company.

  • A comprehensive assessment will be completed by our BCBA. This helps us understand your child’s needs and develop individualized goals. Assessment includes interviews. with caregivers, direct observation of your child, and data collection. The BCBA will use standardized assessment and measurement tools to inform individualized treatment plan goals.

  • Once the assessment is complete a comprehensive treatment plan will be written with individualized, meaningful goals. This plan will be reviewed with you and submitted to the insurance carrier for prior authorization for on-going treatment.

  • Once authorization is approved our team will reach out to you to discuss a schedule and final program details.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Nope! Although Studio B is designed with autistic children in mind it is also a great program for neurotypical children, and those with related developmental differences. It should be noted that most insurance companies do require an autism diagnosis for coverage of ABA services. An existing ABA assessment or autism diagnosis is helpful but not a required to start the process in all cases. Reach out and we can talk through your child's situation directly.

  • That's completely okay. We'll complete an assessment and orient your family to the process step by step. The art-based format is often a gentle and engaging introduction to ABA for kids who are new to structured behavioral programming.

  • We take sensory needs seriously. Our interest form asks about art-related sensory sensitivities specifically, including textures, smells, and tactile materials. We review that information carefully when considering group placement and will discuss your child's needs with you before confirming enrollment.

  • We match children to groups based on proposed goal areas, skill level, support needs, and scheduling availability. Our goal is for every child to feel comfortable and appropriately challenged within their group.

  • We'll review your form and reach out within a few business days to introduce ourselves, answer any questions, and begin the process of verifying your child's insurance benefits. Filling out the form doesn't commit you to anything. It simply lets us know your family is interested so we can follow up with next steps.

  • Authorization timelines vary by insurance carrier. Some carriers respond within 5 to 10 business days, while others can take 3 to 6 weeks. We submit requests as early as possible and will keep you updated throughout the process.

  • Siblings can both be considered for Studio B, though they may be placed in different groups depending on their individual needs and skill levels. Please fill out a separate interest form for each child.

  • Yes. Even if your family is already on the BidWell Behavior waitlist, we ask that everyone complete the Studio B interest form specifically. This helps us gather current information since many families on our waitlist have been waiting for several years and their child's needs and insurance may have changed.

Interested in enrolling?

Filling out the form takes about 3 minutes and doesn’t commit you to anything. It simply lets us know that your family is interested so we can reach out, answer your questions, and walk you through what the next steps look like for your child.

Spots at Studio B are limited and will be filled based on assessment completion, authorization approval, and group fit. We encourage families to express interest early.
